Treading Water
Theodora P. Toad, a bullfrog, isn't exactly a housepet, but she does let people feed her by hand. She lives in a pond in Pennsylvania. Her favorite snacks are big grasshoppers, worms, crickets, slugs, spiders and newts.

I Brake for Turtles
I met this fellow during our weekend road trip to Central PA:
Mr. Turtle was in the middle of a busy, twisty road, and when I spotted him trudging along, I gasped and grabbed my husband's arm. He nearly had a heart attack. (My overly dramatic gasps are the source of much marital conflict.)
"We have to turn around and save him! He's going to get hit!!"
Sure enough, two cars whizzed by him behind us. I thought Mr. Turtle was a goner, and I felt sick to my stomach.
